Coronavirus (COVID-19) – latest advice
NHS services and Public Health England are well prepared for outbreaks of infectious diseases such as COVID-19. The risk to the general public is moderate.
There are things you can do to help stop germs like coronavirus spreading including:
- covering your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze
- put used tissues in the bin
-
regularly wash your hands with soap and water
- try to avoid contact with people who are unwell.
Generally, coronavirus can cause more severe symptoms in people with weakened immune systems, older people, and those with long-term conditions like diabetes, cancer and chronic lung disease. Read more about coronavirus on the NHS website.
