Mapperton Estate steps in with free home-cooked meals for the most vulnerable
The Beaminster Community has truly come together in the most spectacular ways, to ensure that nobody is left hungry and without support. Whether businesses have changed the way they provide goods, or whether volunteers have stepped up to get critical medicines to those who are unable to leave their homes, a true community spirit is very much alive and kicking in Beaminster.
Which is why we are really pleased to be able to share the news that, thanks to the generosity of Mapperton Estate, its staff and the Montagu family, we will now be able to provide home-cooked meals, free of charge, to those in our community who need it most.
What’s involved
Mark Pile, head chef at the Coach House café at Mapperton, is volunteering his time to produce a variety of ready-made meals (including a vegetarian option) on a weekly basis, from the Coach House kitchen. Members of the Montagu family will help package and deliver the food. The Beaminster Community Resilience team are already in touch with many of the most vulnerable people in our town who are isolated or unable to make or receive fresh food themselves or those who may not be able to afford critical supplies at this time, and will be offering assistance directly to each individuals or families that may benefit from this offer.
All food containers will be clearly labelled with ingredients, highlighting allergens and best-before information too.
How to access the meals
Because stock is limited, this offer is only available to the most vulnerable people in our community and, because the Beaminster Community Resilience Team have already been in touch with many of these people, all requests for the available meals will need to be made via the Town Council team, or the emergency support numbers on 01308 863634 or 07377 435 186 (after hours), where requests will be tracked and carefully monitored in order for the team to provide follow-up assistance.
