It’s the final week of July, and already the town is abuzz with Scarecrow chatter. And while we’ll be running the Scarecrow Treasure Hunt, many in the community are getting in on the action and building their own scarecrows. Whether they stand proudly in your garden, hang from your garden shed, dangle from your front door or perch on a flower pot at the end of your driveway, we want you to join in on the fun.
August is quickly becoming Beaminster’s Scarecrow month, and we’re calling on everyone in the community to become part of an initiative, that we hope will last for many years to come.
Here’s what it’s about:
We live in a town that is abundant with so much; friendly people, amazing places to visit and explore, spectacular places to eat and drink, industrious creators and crafters, independent businesses, support initiatives and so much more. And we want to celebrate that. Not only are we making it through one of the toughest years that many of us have had to experience, we want to show that as a community, we are resilient and that we can achieve incredible things when we all work together.
But most of all, we just want to have fun.
We want to show both local residents, and visitors alike, that Beaminster is a wonderful place to visit, that visitors are welcome and that there’s so much to explore here.
How you take part:
It’s simple. Simply create your own creation (remember; it doesn’t always have to be in human form. We’ve had aliens, we’ve seen fish, we’ve seen Minions and we’ve even seen a Shrek family) and put it on display where people can see it! On Saturday, 5 September, between 9 and 10am, bring your scarecrows down to the Town Square for us to judge the Best Scarecrow. The winner stands a chance of winning a £100 gift voucher!
You don’t need to let us know that you’re doing it, but we’d love to see photos! So, make sure you tag Discover Beaminster in any facebook posts so that we can share it too!
Looking forward to seeing all your works of art!
