The Beaminster Festival is a joy to behold – and brings a new found electricity and excitement to our town during the summer months! And with 2020 being what it has been, things were a bit different this time around. But that hasn’t stopped the team from planning for an uptake! Lois Pearson, Artistic Director for the Festival, has sent through an update.
She writes:
We look forward to next year with optimism and are very excited to announce that the Beaminster Festival 2021 will take place 26 June to 4 July. Please make a note of these dates in your diary.
Luckily many of the performers who were unable to come this year are very enthusiastic about joining us in 2021. Already reconfirmed are Emma Johnson, clarinet; the Carducci Quartet and David Goode, organ. Whilst many artists have been inventive in managing to perform online, they all crave the interaction with a live audience. Festivals such as ours are hugely important in rebuilding their musical lives.
We had very much hoped to bring you a delightful cello recital as a ‘taster’, but had to postpone a November date, then a December date and still can’t quite commit to a February date. Be assured that if it does become possible we will send details firstly to those on the mailing list and as tickets would be very limited there will be priority booking for Sponsors, Donors and Friends.
We thank all those who generously donated this year despite us having to cancel. That said, next year will be challenging and all offers of help, either financial or practical, are very much needed and appreciated. An emailed Newsletter was sent to the Friends last week and apparently, some are in Spam folders, so could Friends who haven’t seen it please check your Spam. Others have not been received at all, so could you kindly let us know if it didn’t reach you.
