TARGET REACHED: Beaminster to get Ultra-Fast, ultra-reliable full-fibre broadband!
Over the past few months, you may have noticed stellar efforts being made to get Beaminster even more connected and functioning. As part of their rural next-generation network build, the Openreach initiative aims to bring ultrafast, ultra-reliable full-fibre broadband to Beaminster. And with many of us now working from home permanently, this sounded like music to our ears. The company is planning Beaminster’s new, full-fibre broadband network and has been urging residents and businesses to consider pooling broadband vouchers available from the UK Government to help extend the build even further.
How it works:
Gigabit-capable broadband connections offer the fastest and most reliable speeds available. Homes and businesses in rural areas of the UK may be eligible for funding towards the cost of installing gigabit-capable broadband when part of a group scheme. Rural premises with broadband speeds of less than 100Mbps can use vouchers worth £1,500 per home and up to £3,500 for each small to medium-sized business (SME) to support the cost of installing new fast and reliable connections. Anyone who already has access to a 100Mbps broadband service can check if they may qualify and pledge their voucher on the Connect My Community website www.openreach.co.uk/beaminsterpr. To claim vouchers which contribute towards the cost of building the new network, residents are asked to commit to ordering a full-fibre service from a provider of their choice for at least 12 months once the new network is available. The broadband vouchers on offer provide immediate financial help for people to get next-generation speeds by covering the installation costs of companies such as Openreach.
The aim of the initiative was to have Beaminster residents pool their vouchers together, in order to fund a rollout of the full-fibre broadband to our town. But it would only possible should we, as a community, work together to enable this to happen!
AND WE HAVE!
We heard news this week that we’ve successfully managed to secure funding for the rollout of full-fibre, super fast broadband in our town and community. The wheels are now in motion and everyone who pledged their vouchers will be receiving an email to explain the next steps in the process and which contain a Voucher application for users to complete. Example of the email you’ll be receiving, below:
