Getting beautifully festive in Beaminster with Salon on the Square
As we turn the corner towards the end of the year, there’s one thing on most people’s minds; Christmas parties! And hand-in-hand with Christmas Parties and celebrations, is the desire to ourselves spruced up.
Beaminster is incredibly lucky to have some fantastic beauty and wellness centres offering pampering and relaxation, beauty and fix-me-ups. From hair to nails, massages to just a reason to unwind, if you’re in Beaminster, you’d be spoilt for choice.
We speak to Beaminster’s Salon on the Square about beauty, wellness and hair trends for this coming season
“At Salon on the Square, we believe in using the best quality of products that we can find. That’s why we offer beauty treatments and relaxing experiences using Aveda’s finest and natural products. Aveda are well known for being cruelty-free, ethically-responsible and Vegan. 97% of all ingredients used are naturally derived,” says Helen, the Salon’s owner.
Their vision was to create a London Salon in the heart of Dorset, offering top quality treatment and hair services and for the past 14 years, the team have been continuing their hard work by ensuring that all of their team regularly attend training at the Aveda headquarters in London, keeping themselves up to date with trends and techniques to ensure that their customers leave feeling beautifully pampered and with hair to be proud of. So, whether you’re looking for a beautiful manicure, or you’re on the hunt for an intricate Balayage technique, they pride themselves in offering a service that suits your individuality and style.
Helen tells us about the upcoming trends of the season.
“As the seasons change, so too does our hair and skin and it’s at this time that we need to be thinking about hydration. You want to consider a hydrating treatment for the hair to plump it with moisture and to get it to a healthy condition, filled with style and an amazing shine,” she says.
“As Winter looms after a busy summer, we see colour trends moving towards amazing vibrant colours – especially within the Aveda ranges that have recently been launched. These new vibrant colours include highly-pigmented fiery reds, stunning coppers and exciting pinks and purples using nature’s best ingredients. Copper is certainly the most current and popular colour that we’re seeing, and with Autumn upon us, creating subtle or rich tones throughout your hair is the perfect way to usher in the beautiful golds, coppers and reds of the season ahead,” she adds.
Helen also tells us that a few more trends that are making a welcome appearance include a return to the fantastic ‘Bob’ haircut. Following popular TV trends and recent award ceremonies, we see preferences currently turning towards the short and sleek, with a decidedly 20’s influence. In terms of skin and makeup looks, dewey, glowing skin is in. Gone are the days of matte finish foundations and powders. The team encourage you to embrace your natural glow and finish off the look with a bold, vibrant red this autumn. In terms of hair colours, balayage is still ever popular, but after a wonderful summer, the focus should be all about getting the hair healthy and shiny again, and ready for the colder months again.
While we’re talking about the next few months, we start to chat about Christmas parties. Helen says, “Our team has been busy over the summer months creating some incredibly wedding hair, but now our focus turns to helping our customers prepare for upcoming Christmas parties and winter Balls. Our skilled hair stylists have extensive experience in creating the perfect look and we can even offer a private room that caters for any party where both hair and make-up needs to happen simultaneously. From a beauty trend, moving towards more natural, mineral-based products has certainly been a trend for a while now. We use Mii mineral make-up which is also cruelty-free and natural, completely in line with our salon ethos”.
Mineral-based products have become increasingly popular due to their versatility for various skin-types. For people with sensitive, irritated or blemish-prone skin, mineral products can work wonders due to its non-comedogenic make up, meaning that it doesn’t clog pores. If you have combination or oily skin, it also helps to absorb excess oil too and is great to combat shiny T-zones
Helen also tells us that a change of season heralds in a stronger desire to seek comfort and nourishment. “It’s important to us that our clients feel relaxed, and looked after when they visit us. From Aveda facials to warming hot-stone massages, we offer treatments that are geared towards complete relaxation. And if you’re looking for a real treat, or you’re looking for the perfect gift for someone, a treatment like a massage or facial is perfect to align your body, build up your body’s immune levels, hydrate your skin and build up all the defences against a colder period when our skin usually needs extra moisture. We heat our homes, we’re in and out of hot and cold temperatures. Which is why we should build our bodies up for the seasons that lie ahead of us.”
Salon on the Square offer gift vouchers all year round and a full range of beauty treatments, and with Christmas fast approaching, this is a great place to start preparing for your festive celebrations.
