Attention all Beaminster businesses, and those who run businesses around the town (this applies to all businesses, not just traders in the Square). Given the severity of the current Coronavirus (Covid-19), we are aware that many businesses are really concerned about how this is going to affect them.
While the team is already implementing a Community Support plan, the businesses of Beaminster are getting together to talk about how we can help each other in the interim.
Very kindly coordinating these efforts amongst the businesses, Gary Bartelings from Beyond Capricorn in Lyndon way, Beaminster, has sent out the following invitation to all Beaminster businesses and owners; whether you’re a local dog walking business, or you’re a trader in the town square, or a service provider, you’re invited to attend.
The ongoing situation affecting our businesses is diabolical, and in an effort to support each other where we can through this period, we’re trying to get Beaminster businesses together for a meeting to talk about how we can help each other – and solve any critical issues amongst ourselves.
In discussion with the Town Council we are proposing to hold a meeting at the Town Hall for Beaminster businesses to discuss two main objectives:-
- How do businesses assist other businesses during the Covid-19 outbreak.
- How do businesses assist the wider Beaminster, as well as surrounding areas, communities during the Covid-19 outbreak.

I appreciate that some question the wisdom of physically meeting at a time when the Government advises against gatherings and are encouraging what they call “social distancing” so attending is of course entirely a personal decision. If you prefer not to attend the outcomes from the meeting will be digitally distributed to all who would like to receive them and who would like to stay in the loop on what actions businesses, in cooperation with the Town Council, are taken.
If this is the first time you have heard about the meeting please do sign up by providing an email address so we can keep you up-to-date. We are looking for your input and participation where possible and this is only possible when you sign up. If you don’t sign up we can’t guarantee that you will be kept up-to-date.

Please RSVP by 12 noon Wednesday 18 March at the latest to let us know whether you will be attending the meeting. Can I also please ask you to share this email with as many businesses in Beaminster and surrounding areas as you can? Even if people receive it two or three times that will be better than not at all.
These are challenging times for all but hopefully we will find strength and comfort as well as much direction as possible in combining our knowledge, resources and experience.
