Beaminster St Mary’s Church Turns Blue for #ClapForYourCarers
If you’d spotted the amazing blue church on Thursday, here’s the story behind it.
Beaminster, Dorset, UK. A local Beaminster business has amplified the regular Thursday 8pm applause by lighting up the St Mary’s Church in Beaminster, Dorset, in a poignant shade of blue, in recognition of all essential key workers, carers and NHS staff.
JSW Entertainment Group, a Beaminster-based business providing production, logistical and management services for the entertainment industry worldwide, has taken the initiative to create this visual acknowledgement, in response to the large-scale reduction of events and in an effort to show their support of local initiatives and individuals who are going beyond the call of duty to keep communities active, supported and cared for.
As part of a series of events which will see JSW Entertainment light up various churches throughout the region and working in collaboration with the St Mary’s Church team, Beaminster Town Council and the Discover Beaminster campaign, JSW Entertainment wanted to contribute their support to initiatives within the town that are already underway. Jamie Isaacs, CEO and Operations Manager of JSW Entertainment said, “It was important to us to use our own expertise and skills to add to the amazing initiatives already underway within our own community. Our business works on events all over the UK and Europe, and we wanted to show our appreciation, in a way that we knew how, to the amazing work that so many key workers in our community are doing”.
St Mary’s Church will once again be lit up in blue on Thursday 7 May, whereafter the team will be moving onto other parishes in the region.
Responses to the first lighting of the Church have been received well by the community, with many residents sharing their own photos of the Church in blue, on their own social media profiles. Samantha Pearce from Beaminster Town Council says, “The beauty of the Church is that it’s always been a real focal point for the town. And now, from many areas within Beaminster, residents will get a glimpse of the church and can show their support and appreciation to the NHS , Carers and other key workers without the need to leave their homes. This initiative provides a reminder that although we are going through difficult times at the moment, there are so many people who are doing their utmost to look after us. We are encouraged by the overwhelming amount of support that people and businesses in our own town have offered. From the volunteers who give their time so freely, to businesses who have changed the way they operate to be able to serve people better, initiatives like this one are just another reminder that we’re all in this together and, by working together and supporting each other, we can be stronger.”
St Mary’s Church will be lit up in blue on Thursday evening 7 May from 8pm until 11:30pm.
