You’re Invited: Scarecrow Judging & Prize Draw – 5 September 2020
YOU’RE INVITED: The month of August has been all about the Scarecrows, for Beaminster. Whether you’ve hunted, or whether you’ve built one, we think it’s safe to say that it has been a great success as the first shot at something that we hope will become a regular occurrence! And that’s why, we’d like to invite you and your family to an informal Scarecrow Judging and prizegiving event at the Beaminster Memorial Playing Fields on Saturday, 5 September. Come and enjoy free milkshakes, courtesy of Hollis Mead Organic Dairy, take in some of the live music, and even bring yourselves a picnic to enjoy in the morning!
10:00 Drop Off Your Scarecrows
Everyone who has built a scarecrow and displayed it during August, is invited to bring their creation to the playing fields. A member of the Discover Beaminster team will be there to meet you and get you signed in.
11:00 Scarecrow Judging
West Dorset MP Chris Loder will be joining us to judge the Town’s Best Scarecrow at 11am. We’ll be looking for creativity and fun – and while there’s no clear brief on how the scarecrows will be judged, Chris will be looking for Scarecrows that are truly deserving of the £100 Gift Voucher prize!
11:30 Treasure Hunt Prize Draw
If you’ve taken part in the Treasure Hunt and correctly guessed the hidden word, your entry will be validated and will go into a pot and at approximately 11:30 (give or take a bit – depending on how long the judging goes), we’ll draw 3 lucky winner entries – each of which will be awarded a £100 gift voucher!

Maintaining all the necessary social distancing guidelines at all times, we hope to see as many of you there as possible. Bring a packed breakfast, or lunch and come and enjoy a morning with us – celebrating the end of a great month, and the hard work put in by so many.
