It is that time of year again in Beaminster where the Scarecrows come out to play and you can join in too.
So how can you join in the fun?
Make your own Scarecrow:
How about making your own scarecrow and displaying it in your garden, near your front door, outside your business or asking us if there is another suitable location in the town for it? You can make any type of scarecrow, last year we had sheep, minions, pop stars and local traders, we love seeing how creative our town can be. Scarecrows should be displayed throughout August for everyone to enjoy, then once the fun is over there will be a grand judging on Saturday 4th September at the Memorial Playing Field, 10.30am. The winner of the Best Scarecrow will receive a £100 voucher to spend in a shop(s)/restaurant of their choice in the town.
Scarecrow Trail:
Alternatively you could walk the Scarecrow Trail and find the secret word.
Download the Trail Map/Entry form here http://discoverbeaminster.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Scarecrow-Competition-and-Trail-Poster-dbwebsite-scaled.jpg Alternatively you can pick up a map in the Yarn Barton Information Centre and some of our local shops.
The secret word will have something to do with Beaminster’s history so you may have to do a little research to help you with the correct answer.
Once your form is complete pop it through the post box at the Public Hall, 8 Fleet Street. All correct answers will go into the draw and 3 winners will be picked at random during the Scarecrow Judging on the 4th September. The 3 winners will each receive a £50 voucher to spend in a shop(s)/restaurant of their choice in the town.
The scarecrows will start to appear around the town on Sunday 1st August and we look forward to seeing you add all your weird and wonderful creations.
